The alternative to the classic linen shirt, we worked with 100 Hands to develop this shirt from a cotton ramie blend giving us a beautiful mix of performance and style.

An alternative to the classic linen shirt, developed with 100 Hands from a cotton-ramie blend, for a mix of performance and style.

Ramie has high absorbency, like linen and unlike cotton, which makes it good for warm weather. It's also strong and very breathable, like linen – its only disadvantage against linen is that it isn't quite as cool to the touch.

Mixing the fibre with cotton brings out a softer feel. Cotton/linen blends are a common alternative to linen for smart looks, but tend to be sharp and not the kind of thing you'd wear casually – the ramie blend creases more softly than a traditional linen or linen-blend shirt.

The collar is a standard semi-spread – not revolutionary, but classic for good reason. Made in 100 Hands' Indian atelier, beautifully handcrafted with hand-sewn collars and armholes, buttons and buttonholes.

Sizing
  • All PS shirts (Oxford, Selvedge Chambray, Madras, Ramie, Japanese Denim) are cut to the same body fit, so a size that fits in one should fit in all of them, once washed.
  • The Oxford is the only fabric with noticeable shrinkage, so it's cut slightly larger to begin with. After a couple of washes it settles to the same size as the Denim and Chambray shirts.
  • The steps between sizes are fairly large, covering most people across four sizes. The fit is relatively slim; the best guide is to prioritise fit in the collar, shoulders and chest, since anything from the armpit down can be altered by a tailor (darts or side seams).
