The New Friday Polo
A new, more versatile version of the luxury polo shirt produced in collaboration with bespoke Neapolitan shirtmaker Luca Avitabile.
Designed to wear with tailoring, the long-sleeved Friday Polo has always had a collar stand like a dress shirt, which allows it to sit perfectly under a jacket.
It now has a straight hem too, allowing the wearer to use it untucked. As Simon says in the launch article, it's one of very few menswear pieces that can be worn with both a suit and with shorts.
This Autumn 2023 update on the original (launched in 2015) changes the collar to a spread style, again making it more versatile than the button-down iteration. It also has a slightly more relaxed body (2cm extra).
The Friday Polo is hand cut in a Naples atelier, with five aspects sewn by hand: buttonholes, (mother of pearl) buttons, gussets, ends of the cuff placket, and hand-inserted sleeves.
The material is an 150g cotton piqué, woven in Italy by Maggia, which feels soft and luxurious, but unlike the previous version, is a weight designed to be worn year-round.
The shirt is pre-washed and should have minimal shrinkage. Wash cool and line dry.
Soft and pliable, comfortable and elegant, the Friday Polo has become a sartorial staple.
