Details

Produced in collaboration with Speciale for the PS Shop, and hand-framed in Wales by Corgi – a sweater for cooler nights in warmer months.

With a dry handle and 4-ply cotton, this yarn gives the sweater a satisfying body and breathability, with the looser knit allowing air to pass through. Versatile enough for both tailoring and casual outfits, with tailored trousers, shorts or jeans.

We worked from the existing Speciale model but increased the length by over 5cm, as theirs is designed for high-waisted trousers, and increased the neck size by 1cm – the collar still feels tight when first worn, but loosens over time while retaining a flattering high neckline.

The ribbing on the hem keeps the knit close on the waist, so it doesn't droop.

Sizing
  • Simon's size: Medium.
  • Fits similarly to our other knitwear (summarised in the winter version of this article) but grows a little, as cotton tends to. For this reason Simon wears a medium here, rather than the large he now usually wears in the Cashmere Crewneck.
  • If you're between sizes or unsure, we'd suggest sizing down. The neck is deliberately small, as we like a high collar – this will feel tight at first, but relaxes a little with wear, and there's nothing worse than a sloppy cotton collar.

Simon says

"I love cotton knits in the summer," says Simon. "I couldn't always see the point of them, but in the past few years I've regularly taken one on our holidays, and I adore the feeling of putting one on as the day cools down.

They provide a layer of warmth as you need it, but are cool to the touch, open and breathable. In fact they feel and perform a lot like linen trousers, which is probably why the two make such a practical summer combination."

Readers say

"I got my olive green MTO sweater last week and I wanted to let you know it is a great product. I have the olive, caffè latte and cream colours now and they are fast becoming staples of my spring and summer wardrobe. This is easily one of the best products you have done."
