The Button-Down Friday Polo
A new, button-down version of the long-sleeved luxury polo shirt produced in collaboration with bespoke Neapolitan shirtmaker Luca Avitabile.
Designed to sit perfectly under tailoring, the Friday Polo has a collar stand like a dress shirt, and is cut high - enabling it to roll outside the jacket collar and not slip underneath it.
It also has a relatively slim body and high armhole, and is cut long, like a regular shirt, in order to stay tucked in.
This Spring 2020 update on the original, launched in 2015, changes the collar to the button-down style that Simon designed and has become so popular on other Permanent Style shirts.
The Friday Polo is hand cut in a Naples atelier, with five aspects also sewn by hand: buttonholes, (mother of pearl) buttons, gussets, ends of the cuff placket, and hand-inserted sleeves.
It uses a beautiful mid-weight cotton piqué from Caccioppoli that makes it ideal for wearing most of the year, under different weights of jacket.
The shirt is pre-washed, and so should not shrink. Wash cool and line dry.
Soft and pliable, comfortable and yet elegant, the Friday Polo is a new sartorial staple.
What our customers say: “Friday Polo: Again, the cloth is superb, and I haven't seen this perfect collar somewhere else. I’ve ordered several over the years.”
