The Cashmere Crewneck
The knit that can be worn with everything, the staple sweater.
This crewneck has a two-ply cashmere yarn and is knitted at a 21 gauge, which make it an everyday mid-weight that can be worn most of the year, including indoors, and layers well under both jackets and coats. The colour, meanwhile, is that mid-grey flannel beloved by fans of tailoring, which goes with pretty much everything, as well as having a particular knack of softening strong colours.
It's Scottish made, which means the knit is tighter, using more cashmere, and will last better. The fit is slim but not skinny, for a tailored look, and has a slightly longer sleeve than standard models. And a simple single cuff to give it a clean look.
It is Simon’s everyday sweater, and something he wears under both a tailored jacket and casual clothing (as pictured).
As he says: "I had a look through old images on the Lookbook to see where I had worn a grey cashmere crewneck in the past, and there were quite a few. It provided some evidence for what I had otherwise assumed - that it’s the type and colour of knit I wear the most, because of its versatility."
