A summer bomber jacket that works just as well with tailoring as with jeans, now in two distinctive linen options.

Details

A summer bomber jacket that works just as well with tailoring as with jeans.

Based on a vintage Harrington, and inspired by an old linen Hermès bomber of Simon's, this jacket is made from a lightweight but firm linen, cut in a blousy style.

It's designed to be tight at the waist – with elastic panels at the back, not all the way round, for a more elegant result – to allow for a full, flattering shape around the upper body.

The traditional back yoke of a Harrington has been turned into a ventilation mechanism, with gaps between the yoke and body allowing more air to flow through the jacket.

  • Harrington-style jacket with zip front and button collar and cuffs
  • Unpolished two-hole horn buttons, as used on Savile Row tailoring
  • Slim RiRi zip, made in Switzerland
  • Made in Manchester by Private White VC
  • Two reverse-welt hip pockets and two internal patch breast pockets
  • Vents allow air movement between the back body and yoke

You can read more about the germination of the jacket in the original PS article here and about the new Art du Lin here.

Sizing
  • Simon's size: Medium.
  • The Linen Harrington is a blouson – designed to fit close in the waist, with plenty of flattering size and freedom of movement in the chest. When you zip it up it should feel tight; you should need to pull on the elastic to fasten it. It should then ride up onto your hips and stay there – let the top 'blouse' out.

Material & Care
  • Navy: 100% super-light 270g linen from Solbiati (part of Loro Piana).
  • Brown: 100% linen from Solbiati’s Art du Lin. Finished with a matte effect and washed for an unusually soft feel – a popular option for those who don't naturally take to linen.
  • Hang and brush down with a garment brush after use, dry clean if necessary.
Simon says

“The point of the Linen Harrington, of course, was to make a real summer jacket - something for the warmest of weather - that was sportier than something like the Linen Overshirt.

The linen makes it cool, and it has ingenious ventilation between the two panels of the back. It sits tightly on the waist, with a lot of drape in the back that helps airflow as well as being flattering”

What our customers say

"The navy linen Harrington is one of the most functional and beautiful casual items I own, and I wear it year round – Sydney climate lends itself to lighter outerwear. Fabric and proportions are perfect. Can't wait to receive the brown version."

"Just received my Art du Lin Harrington. Although I'd already tried it on in the recent pop-up shop, I can confirm it's a wonderful jacket. The linen especially has a luxurious and substantial feel, which I think is particularly relevant in an unlined jacket of this nature."
